IAC Program Managers
The Industrial Assessment Centers
are part of the U.S. Department of Energy's Industrial Technologies
Program (ITP). The goal of ITP is to create partnerships among
industry, trade groups, government agencies, and other organizations
to research, develop and deliver advanced energy efficiency,
renewable energy and pollution prevention technologies for
industrial customers.

Luke Nickerman, Industrial Assessment Centers, U.S. Department of Energy
Dr. Michael R. Muller, IAC Field Manager
Dr. Muller received his Ph.D in Engineering from Brown University
before joining Rutgers in 1979. Prior to his appointment as Director
of the CAES, Dr. Muller directed the activities of the Rutgers University Energy Analysis and Diagnostic Center
(now known as the Industrial Assessment Center) and the Bureau of Engineering Research.
In 1992, the Rutgers IAC was discontinued and Dr. Muller focused on
managing the activities of the IAC Program's Eastern Division schools.
Current research interests include fluidized beds, optimization of cooling towers and chillers, efficient motor systems, adjustable speed drives and combined heat and power
(CHP).
Don Kasten, IAC Field Manager
Mr. Kasten
is responsible for the field management of the IAC program. His experience in the energy field ranges from serving as Energy
Coordinator for Kmart Corp., to developing his own residential energy company. He has assisted teaching manufacturing energy courses at Rutgers, and was an invited speaker for the Energy Efficient Motor Exchange. He is a graduate of Ramapo College, and is a Certified Energy Auditor in Maine and New Jersey.
Michaela Martin, Student Activities Advisor
Michaela received her MS in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M and her BS from Arizona State. She worked as a graduate student in the IAC Program while at Texas A&M. She is a registered professional engineer and a Program Manager with Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Michaela is responsible for coordinating student activities for the IAC Program. This includes the annual student's meeting, web site content development, alumni interaction and employer/student networking.
